The Majestic Highway Pot Shop
Mari J’s Highway Pot Shop is conveniently located just off of I-5. It should take only a few moments to stop by and pick up your favorite flower before hitting the road again, but Mari J’s is enchanting, inviting and safe. You will be captivated to stay by the warm lighting and highly educated budtenders.
Dedicated mother, successful businesswoman and Washington medical marijuana patient Jessica Jordan is the owner of Mari J’s Highway Pot Shop. A real estate guru turned cannabis entrepreneur, Jessica moved into the cannabis industry to educate and help others. Mari J’s Highway Pot Shop is a medically-endorsed retail store where the staff is well educated, well informed and well mannered. Oh, and they welcome animals! Mari J’s occasionally has in-store pet guests and welcomes you to bring yours. At Mari J’s, two-legged and four-legged friends come together to celebrate cannabis.
Animals aside, the atmosphere at Mari J’s Highway Pot Shop is riveting and purposeful; the store oozes intention. It feels good and it smells good! Inviting lighting and a familiar scent invite you to stay a while. The interior design is strong and simple, and aesthetically, merchandise is just how it should be and precisely where it should be. Mari J’s logo (a simple, elegant crown) is bold and feminine. Seen from the road, the crown regally invites you in from the highway, offering majestic marijuana and a display of premium cannabis fit for royalty! When you roll in, expect an exciting cannabis retail experience.
This past July, Mari J’s celebrated its first birthday. While it might seem like a small milestone to some, in a new and expanding industry it is important for business owners to celebrate the toughest achievements. For Jessica, getting her cannabis business off the ground was a rollercoaster, but her greatest hurdle is not the industry itself. Jessica juggles Mom duties all while being an involved cannabis business owner, and in Washington, cannabis businesses don’t permit anyone under the age of 21 on the premises. Unlike a lot of working parents, Jessica can’t tote her cute kiddo around to meetings or visits with her—it is illegal (and frustrating). While finding her work and parenting balance perpetually difficult, Jessica feels increasingly empowered being a woman in the cannabis industry.
“I struggle more as a mom in this industry than as a woman. I feel like women have been embraced in this industry. It has been a really positive thing for me.” -Jessica Jordan
Mari J’s Highway Pot Shop has been involved with the local community since they opened and they receive support from within their community, neighborhood and neighboring businesses. To ensure the community felt their appreciation, Mari J’s held a silent auction at their recent birthday celebration and raised almost $4000 for the American Cancer Society (ACS). They also donated 5 percent of their takings from the party! Mari J’s loves local events too, and the store has entered a team in the Snohomish County ACS Making Strides for Breast Cancer 5K. The Mari J’s team is dedicated to raising funds for a great cause and they will continue to give life, love and energy back to their community. Jessica shared with me, “It is important to be involved and to give to the community. I want to have a positive impact on the cannabis industry and my local community.”
As a long term medical marijuana patient, Jessica is dedicated to serving patients under Mari J’s medical endorsement. Changes to Washington’s medical cannabis laws in July 2016 left cannabis patients feeling unsupported, confused and lost, but Mari J’s Highway Pot Shop is committed to finding the right solutions for each individual with high-quality cannabis. The team is knowledgeable about all aspects surrounding cannabis, and the one thing Jessica agrees the staff members all have in common? They all love weed!
Expect to see more of both Mari J’s and Jessica as the cannabis industry continues to grow and expand. The future is bright and Mari J’s is constantly working to grow in both experience and popularity. Jessica plans to continue building the Mari J’s brand and open stores as legalization becomes a reality across the United States.
You can find Mari J’s Highway Pot Shop on I-5—it is hard to miss. Drop by Mari J’s and say hi to the team!
