The Hot Box: The Top Five Teams to Play on Madden ’19

Madden ‘19 is almost here (August 10 for normies, and August 2 for pre-order and EA Access members.) That means football junkies can get their fix before the NFL regular season kicks off in September.

Unless you’re a die-hard fan who always plays with his team, then you’re probably looking for the most fun teams to play with. These five squads might not be the most talented, but you’ll surely get the most entertainment from these clubs.

Houston Texans

For part of last year’s NFL season, the Texans were the most exciting team in the NFL. Not the Patriots, not the Rams, not the Saints — but the lowly Houston Texans.

That’s because rookie sensation Deshaun Watson put up gaudy stats before injuring his knee. In Madden, the dynamic duo of Watson and receiver DeAndre Hopkins returns, and it’s nearly impossible to stop.

On defense, the Texans have multiple players who are fun to control — including pass rushers J.J. Watt, Jadeveon Clowney and linebacker Benardrick McKinney.

Cleveland Browns

The Browns might’ve won only one game in the past two NFL seasons, but that’s part of the reason why they’re a pretty fun play.

There might be no better feeling than showing that you’re smarter (and better) than NFL coaches on Madden. Now, you can control a fun, young team to two — heck, even three — wins on Madden.

The Browns also have an extremely talented core of young players who should make Cleveland an exciting play. Just take a look at the Browns’ roster; they’re stacked at a lot of positions, and they have Tyrod Taylor — a running QB — and Baker Mayfield in the QB room. That’s hard to beat, at least on an entertainment side.

New York Giants

Somehow, the teams with the two worst records last year are also two of the most fun teams to play with in Madden.

For the Giants, it’s all about the offense. Adding Saquon Barkley — one of the most exciting players to enter the NFL in recent memory — to an already stacked offense that included Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shepard and Evan Engram.

The Giants also have a pretty great defense to play with, although they don’t have a fun linebacker to control.

New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees might be a year older, but the Saints are still one of the most high-scoring offenses in the league. And after a legendary 2017 draft class, New Orleans is easily one of the most fun teams to play with.

Brees has toys to play with all over the field. From Michael Thomas to Alvin Kamara, the Saints offense is absolutely stacked.

On defense, New Orleans has plenty of pass rushers, corners and linebackers to throttle an offense.

Baltimore Ravens

Last year, the Ravens were one of the most boring teams in the NFL — and on Madden. As things stand now, not much has changed. That is, unless you take matters into your own hands.

The Ravens made the smart decision to draft dynamic, dual-threat QB Lamar Jackson in the first round. Unfortunately, he’s still Baltimore’s backup — unless you make him the starter on Madden.

That move will automatically make the Ravens one of the most compelling teams in the video game; a running QB with Jackson’s speed could prove hard to stop.
