On Set With Adult Performer And Educator: jessica drake

I spent four days last week with jessica drake, my friend and fellow sex educator. She is a Wicked Pictures contract performer and was shooting her feature movie for the year, jessica drake is Wicked. The goal was to create a series of highly stylized vignettes that showcased her passions and desires. I missed the first day, Cirque du Sex, but I’m told it involved a sword swallower and jessica hanging in a lyra hoop. So rad.

I arrived Monday for the second day of shooting. The theme for the day was Original Sin, featuring jessica playing Eve opposite Ryan Driller, whose chiseled form was perfect for Adam. It was a reimagined Garden of Eden story (and far more entertaining than the original, in my opinion). The snake was a 70lb boa constrictor who was only present for photos and went home before any of the sexy fun times began—it’s not that kind of movie.

The third day was Teamwork, and it went off with a blowbang. Yes, blowbang. It’s like a gangbang, except the focus is solely on oral sex. It took place in a boardroom setting and included four performers jessica was working with for the first time: Dirk Huge, Isiah Maxwell, Ricky Johnson and Rob Piper. The chemistry was palpable, and jessica totally looked the part of a corporate executive in a tie, tailored vest and jacket with a matching pocket square.

Day four was Beauty, shot in a new location—a large warehouse in downtown L.A. made to look like a high fashion photo shoot. Venus Lux, Aubrey Kate and Domino Presley were jessica’s co-stars for the day, and it was a joy to watch them together. The all-black wardrobe made the four women look like they were in a sexy coven of witches. It was a long but excellent day, with one performer exclaiming, “I just want tacos and marijuana and a dick in my face!” as the shoot neared its end.

Although cannabis isn’t allowed to be consumed on set for legal reasons, once shooting was over for the day I was the first one with a vape pen in my hand. During filming I offered performers topical CBD balm for back and shoulder pain—in case you didn’t know, shooting a film of any kind is hard work, and I would say doubly so for adult films! I was continually amazed at the ways the performers were able to contort their bodies. After all, shooting porn is not like having sex in the real world; the performers have to be keenly camera-aware so that viewers are able to see everything.

The last day was School of Cock, featuring an orgy scene with jessica playing teacher alongside five talented, tattooed performers: Small Hands, Will Havoc, Sarah Jessie, Anna Bell Peaks and Lily Lane. I can’t imagine the finesse it takes to wrangle that many performers and shoot them so seamlessly. My hat is off to director Brad Armstrong and the entire crew of jessica drake is Wicked for doing such a masterful job capturing the action. A large-scale porn film requires a lot of people: tech folks for camera, lighting and sound; director, producer, makeup artist, photographer, assistants—it’s a huge undertaking! Another reason why it’s necessary to pay for porn. It’s not just the performers you’re ripping off, it’s the behind-the-scenes folks as well.

I’ve been on adult film sets twice before—once while jessica was filming one of her educational films, jessica drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: Kama Sutra, and the second time for DNA, one of Wicked Pictures’ big movies of 2016, where I had a few lines as an extra. I have always appreciated the professionalism shown by everyone who steps onto a Wicked set, and this film was no exception. Wicked is a company that clearly cares about their performers and the people who work on their films. I’m grateful to jessica for allowing me the opportunity to observe all of the hard work that goes into creating a feature movie, and for her passion and deep commitment to pushing the industry to become more inclusive.
