The Flower Collective
A Hybrid Garden Growing Willie Nelson’s Stash
Winding my way up through the snowy canyons from Boulder to Nederland, my excitement grew rapidly. Visiting The Flower Collective, a grow located a bit over 8,000 feet in elevation is not only unique. They mix both greenhouse and indoor cultivation techniques as well as produce for Willie’s Reserve, the cannabis brand created by American legendary musician, Willie Nelson.
The flowering room is what took me by complete surprise! Stunning flowering Soul Star ladies basked under both the natural, beaming Colorado sunshine, thanks to the epic greenhouse–style ceiling.
Growers, Max Pollet and Dori Littman, started off by leading me into a vibrant, lively room of Sour Star where I caught on quickly to this team’s eco-friendly growing techniques. In-house cloning cubes are created using their own soil, making a more consistent growing base from beginning to end of the plants’ lives while also eliminating some overhead costs. I noticed the use of GeoPots in both vegetation and flowering stages as well as double stacked levels of growing racks in the vegetation room to completely utilize the space given. These were some of the happiest, young plants I’ve ever seen. The flowering room is what took me by complete surprise! Stunning flowering Soul Star ladies basked under both the natural, beaming Colorado sunshine, thanks to the epic greenhouse–style ceiling. The ladies has a little help from some ceramic metal halides as well.
Tucked throughout the building were trim, drying and curing rooms and an office with a stellar view of the Twin Peaks! Their flower dries anywhere from 12-14 days then cures for at least six weeks after. Surprisingly unique, on the way out lied a temperature controlled room specially made for ice water hash production included with custom screens and as Dori described, an “agitation station” for bubble hash magic making. The team washes in-house then incorporates that hash into pre-rolls where they use a 5:1 flower to bubble hash ratio. There’s nothing average about the product or methods used here at The Flower Collective, it exceeded my expectations and taught me so much throughout my short visit. It’s no wonder this collective is Willie approved.
