From seed to sale, LivWell cultivates and retails specially-bred and grown cannabis for all different types of patients and customers. From pre-packaged $99 ounces to hand-trimmed and hang-dried $45 eighths, they provide something for everyone. Since 2009, the family-run business has been innovating, creating and growing. Yes, these farmers are growing lots of marijuana, but they’re also growing their business—currently operating two warehouse facilities and 14 stores in Colorado with no signs of slowing down.
LivWell’s quality buds begin as baby clones in their main facility, where 92 percent will root, continue to develop and later be harvested. To ensure consistent quality, the company runs a Tissue Culture Program, where the exact cells of a genetic are indefinitely preserved in a petri dish, providing access to accurately bred clones time and time again. As each plant moves through its life cycle, they are tended to with the utmost care. Nutrients are even mixed in-house—with a unique recipe for each genetic crafted and kept on file. On any given day, LivWell is growing 19 strains, and just like a brewery, they have seasonals—19 per year, to be exact!
In an effort to increase their electricity’s efficiency, LivWell recently converted their garden to LED lighting. The new implementation seems to be paying off quickly; Xcel has already given the company a rebate for $49,000 and LivWell has seen great energy savings in the form of air conditioning. The LED lights create far less heat than traditional grow lighting, thus reducing the total amount of energy needed to power the AC. In addition to reducing energy consumption, LivWell also automates many of their processes, like watering and potting, to further conserve resources. LivWell also gives back to the community in many ways, including “Penny Ounces” for veterans during certain times, recently giving away over $800,000 worth of cannabis.

These commercial cannabis specialists don’t stop after cultivation. LivWell also creates their own extractions, edibles, vaporizer pens and topicals/lotions. The company has two Analytical Chemistry employees with PhDs working in their labs, consistently researching fractional distillation of cannabinoids and other complex techniques to break ground in the production of extracts and genetics. Their kitchen strives to provide boutique products including fair-trade, organic chocolate, and they’re always testing for residual solvents—aiding in a consistently reliable and quality product.
LivWell strongly stands by their research and development efforts, with very close attention paid to isolating specific cannabinoids and breeding certain strains to include them. This allows for targeted products to be created, increasing their overall effectiveness when treating ailments. For example, combining cannabinoids that stimulate appetite and reduce nausea could be tremendously helpful for a cancer patient. “We’re a customer service based company,” shared Michael Lord, Director of Business Development, so customers can expect to see many advancements with their products in the years to come.
