Seed & Smith – Denver, CO
Driven by a passion for science and cultivation, Seed & Smith was founded in 2014 by business partners Truman Bradley (CEO) and Brooks Lustig (COO). They shared a dream of not only producing top-shelf cannabis, but sharing and demonstrating their process. They are thrilled to open their space and offer guided tours of the facility, which will give the public a unique opportunity to see how cannabis is grown and processed all the way from seed to sale. Think of it like a brewery tour, but way cooler. From vegetation to flowering to extraction—and everything in between—Seed & Smith provides a one-of-a-kind insight into their craft. Oh, and did I mention that the tour is free?
Located less than 15 minutes from Denver International Airport and about 20 minutes from Downtown Denver, Seed & Smith is the perfect place to bring friends or family visiting from out of town. Originally a forklift manufacturing factory, Seed & Smith transformed their space into a state-of-the-art dispensary and growing facility. A few of my favorite components of the tour included the tinted windows that look into the flowering room, which give the viewer a chance to see the actual color of the plants without harsh UV rays. I also loved the terpene-sniffing station, which included various essential oils from different strains, and allowed the group to smell and compare different aromatic profiles commonly found in cannabis such as lemon, diesel, pine and cheese. It’s the little details that really tie the experience together.
The quality of Seed & Smith’s bud is impeccable. I loved that the tour ended in their retail store, where we saw the finished product—a full-circle experience! One thing that really grinds my gears in the cannabis industry is that so much plastic gets used and wasted, and Seed & Smith strongly advocates for environmental sustainability. They spend more than three times the average dispensary to responsibly package their products. Seed & Smith uses sleek, beautiful, 100% recyclable jars compliant with Colorado’s packaging policies. Since the jars are glass instead of plastic, the smell, quality and overall integrity of the cannabis is flawlessly preserved. The eighth of Sunset Sherbet I took home after my Seed and Smith tour both looks and tastes amazing, and I will definitely be returning for more!
