The DOPE Team recently raced over to Bend to see what’s shakin’ in Central Oregon, and we were thoroughly moved by the welcoming spirit the city is known for.
Sacred Farms is an OMMP farm that cares for several patients in the Bend area. No product is currently available for sale, but plans to make the leap to recreational are in the works. OLCC rules will now allow the farm to offer their superior products to the rec market, while maintaining their patients’ needs—a new law that opens access for medical patients, and allows OMMP farms to make a living.
“…Sacred Farms is perched on top of an ancient canyon, where the river has carved a deep scar across the desert that begins at the foothills of Mt. Hood.”
Sacred Farms has been running for 3 years, but Chris Paul, the owner, has been in the cannabis game for over 12 years. “The farm started with me and another person,” Paul explains, “but as the needs of the patients quickly grew, we had to grow to keep up with demand. We were simply happy to have the ability to provide this service, and be received so well!” The farm currently grows three strains: Gorilla Glue #4, Golden Goat and Sensi Star. Early in our visit we viewed the trimming site and sampled the goods; the buds were super frosty, beautifully trimmed and unbelievably potent.
I saved the best for last—the grow site! Located 45 min outside of Bend, Sacred Farms is perched on top of an ancient canyon where the river has carved a deep scar across the desert that begins at the foothills of Mt. Hood. As a former Arborist, I was surprised when I stepped out over the observation deck and got a bit dizzy looking down. Inside was a sophisticated indoor setup; I’ve only seen a few OMMP farms that were this rec-ready. Lights, watering and airflow equipment were all state of the art, and the farm uses entirely organic growing practices to produce the perfect medicinal cannabis for their grateful patients.
